PBS Celebrates a Milestone: The 2,000th PBS TJ100 Engine Produced

The PBS TJ100 engine is used across a wide range of applications – from missiles to target drones. Thanks to its compact design, high reliability, and operational efficiency, it has established a strong position in the global market.

Engine development began in 2002. Flight tests played a significant role, conducted in part on the legendary L-13 Blanik glider. In 2014, the engine received EASA type certification (version TJ100C), followed by the launch of serial production in 2018.

Key Features

• Exceptional thrust-to-weight ratio. The engine weighs 17.6–19.7 kg at a maximum thrust of 1,250 N, making it competitive with engines developed purely for high-performance applications.
• An integrated starter-generator built directly into the compressor intake eliminates the need for an additional gearbox mechanism and simplifies installation.
• In-flight restart in under 7 seconds up to an altitude of 6,000 m at 0.5 Mach, without any external power source.
• Modularity. Customers can tailor the engine to their specific needs: nozzle length, mount positions, and saltwater landing variant. Each engine can be customised to the requirements of a given application.
• The TJ100P variant, the latest oil-free version lubricated by a fuel-oil mixture, reduces weight, manufacturing costs, and price. It opens the TJ100 up to an even broader range of applications, including single-use systems.

Reaching the milestone of 2,000 PBS TJ100 engines produced confirms the sustained growth in demand and the trust of customers from around the world. The PBS TJ100 thus remains one of the key products of PBS.
